Ridng on the back of the Help for Heroes canvases a friend of mine and former squaddie suggested I did some t-shirts with the soldier and child image on them so here they are. Go to the tee shop for mens and ladies shirts which are £18.99 with £5 of those pounds going to the Help for Heroes charity. Perhaps if you're a bit more flush go to the art shop where £25 from a canvas will go to the charity.
In other news my mother-in-law suggested I submit a design for Peterboroughs war memorial using the image above but I cant help thinking it will just look like a big version of those green soldiers from Toy Story. What the hell, I'll send it off today. I'm used to being scoffed at. This design is inspired by the Sigue Sigue Sputnik logo from back in the 80's. Only available in red and on sale now for £14.99. Check the Tee Shop for more details.
This summer Channel 4 is celebrating British street culture with some quality new programmes dedicated to the different elements of street-level genius.
Street art and graffiti is going to be represented by the TV premiere of Exit Through the Gift Shop and a new documentary focusing on the UK scene which will include writers like Robbo. Channel 4 wants to find new talent too, to help promote Street Summer across the UK in the only way which makes sense; with massive pieces! This is where I need you. Please vote Korp after the jump. A year in Peterborough just wouldn’t be the same without the spectacular Peterborough Festival. Brought to you by Vivacity, and supported by the Arts Council and Peterborough City Council, this year’s festival is set to be bigger and better than ever. I got to feature in the art zone with a few Blok Collective artists, check out the KORP ON TOUR page for all the photos.
I've just added several new items to the Korp Art Shop. Take a look.
The Help the Heroes stencil I did a while back has been very popular with several orders for the same piece within days of the original being sold. As well as copies of the original which was on canvas I decided to do some different versions on paper...one with a full colour Union Flag. These will be for sale in the SHOP as soon as I have some decent photos of them and a percentage of the sale price will go back to Help the Heroes. If you cant wait, mail me for more details of whats available.
A few weeks ago I was asked if I'd donate some work to a Help for Heroes auction being held in Peterbough. Obviously I said yes but I didn't have anything suitable so I had to do something new. After much research on the internet I found the perfect image and cut out a 1 layer stencil.
The finished piece had a grey background with a Union Flag painted using transparent black and it ended up raising £165 for the charity. Upfest is Europe's largest urban paint festival and this was it's 4th year. I've been to Upfest for the last 3 years so I've seen it grow every year and this year was no different. From a personal point of view it wasn't a great start because it was too windy to use the stencil I'd spent 50 hours cutting so I instead I did a large version of Pappy (a painting I did 5 years ago that got me to the final of the Liberte D'expression competition). Still it was enjoyable and I got to finish early and soak up the atmosphere. Check out the pics of me painting here. There were several highlights from this years event, right from the Friday night where all the shutters on the high street were being painted to the life size painted gorillas and the amazing Herakut piece on the side of the Tobacco Factory. There was good representation from Peterborough with Process Smith, SeOne and Kone74 on form. On the Sunday me and the family took in our first Secret Wars. 6 artists, just black pens and 3 hours. It was great to watch a massive piece of art come to life in front of you. Meanwhile upstairs in the Tobacco Factory there was more black on white with Collaboration Nation and My Dog Sighs. Upfest 2011 was epic...cant wait for next year...
