A couple of weeks ago a friend found this great piece of cardboard and knowing what a fan I was of thick or multi-ply cardboard he brought it round for me to work on. Despite saying to myself I wasn't going to start any new pieces of work in 2014 I just couldn't resist the temptation to draw on it with a new set of Sharpies. So I got to work, the plan was to start in the centre and work my way out re-discovering the development of my worm character as I I went along. It started well and I liked the way the centre worked with the simple worms I used to draw years ago, a little organic life and then some of the worms that developed arms...as they do. After 4 hours of doodling things were going well and I was reasonably happy with how it was coming along but then the pens started running out, I made a few mistakes and ended up finishing it quickly because I lost interest in it. In the past when I've drawn stuff and not been very happy with it I've always kept it and it kind of sits in the corner reminding me I'm not as good as I want to be. So I took one last photo of it... ...and then set it on fire! 2014 has seen a good start to the sketchbook. Gonna collaborate with Miss Wah on one of these books (I think she likes my cactus)...although after counting 10 metres of paper in one book I'm thinking I've bitten off more than I can chew. Anyway here are some shots of the sketchbook in progress...all done with Posca and Sharpies.
I decided 2014 is going to be all about finishing the multitude of art projects I've started over the years. I've had this sketchbook for about two years now. Here is a quick update on progress.
