Big thanks go to Daren Grant for the picture above from Overground 2014 and all the other photographers I've met over the years who have generously found my work interesting enough to capture on film...well on SD cards.
One of the things with painting at a live arts jam is the number of people that are taking your photograph. I was talking to a photographer a few weeks ago at the Gloucester Jam who told me that they can sometimes feel quite intrusive when they are taking your photo so the best thing you can do is ignore them and carry on with your work. At Overground it turns out that this is easier said than done because about halfway through the day I notice a guy is standing behind me taking a photo. I can handle this, nothing out of the ordinary, but then he slowly starts to shuffle round in a circle while taking lots more photographs and it gets quite distracting because I'm now thinking this guy is nuts and doesnt really know how to use a camera. Today I saw the resulting photograph...and it was planet Korp. Moral of the story is to trust the togs, they know what they're doing.

I quite enjoy drinking a coffee and doing a little art. My favourite place for this is in Patisserie Valerie in Peterborough. This is what I drew last week before heading over to the Blok Collective Underpass Project at the local art gallery.
Just experimenting with a few ideas to keep the worms interesting, this one looks a little too much like a wizard casting a spell but aside from that I think arms suit worms. I use small pieces of card to pump up my Posca pens and get them inked up and ready to use. Rather than waste the card I thought I'd draw a little worm on it. This one is loosely based on a Lee Mason skatedeck that looks awesome.
Last week my wife said to me I need to go to work with her because she needed some help writing on some large boards. I agreed to help out but didn't really know what I was letting myself in for. Today I found out we were going to work at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough which is a beautiful building that has been a hospice for the last 20 years providing palliative care. The job was simple but emotional, we had to write the words "before I die I want to" at the top of four large boards. The plan is to screw the four boards together into a giant cube and take them to various locations and ask people to write what they want to do before they die on them. Happy with how they turned out considering we didn't plan anything, we just turned up and painted. It was a good afternoon. Find out more about Thorpe Hall and consider donating here. A couple of friends dropped some of my work in San Francisco last week for Free Art Friday. I got these brilliant pictures. A couple of weeks ago a friend found this great piece of cardboard and knowing what a fan I was of thick or multi-ply cardboard he brought it round for me to work on. Despite saying to myself I wasn't going to start any new pieces of work in 2014 I just couldn't resist the temptation to draw on it with a new set of Sharpies. So I got to work, the plan was to start in the centre and work my way out re-discovering the development of my worm character as I I went along. It started well and I liked the way the centre worked with the simple worms I used to draw years ago, a little organic life and then some of the worms that developed arms...as they do. After 4 hours of doodling things were going well and I was reasonably happy with how it was coming along but then the pens started running out, I made a few mistakes and ended up finishing it quickly because I lost interest in it. In the past when I've drawn stuff and not been very happy with it I've always kept it and it kind of sits in the corner reminding me I'm not as good as I want to be. So I took one last photo of it... ...and then set it on fire! 2014 has seen a good start to the sketchbook. Gonna collaborate with Miss Wah on one of these books (I think she likes my cactus)...although after counting 10 metres of paper in one book I'm thinking I've bitten off more than I can chew. Anyway here are some shots of the sketchbook in progress...all done with Posca and Sharpies.
