I decided 2014 is going to be all about finishing the multitude of art projects I've started over the years. I've had this sketchbook for about two years now. Here is a quick update on progress.

I cut out lots of cardboard bricks for the Find Me Keep Me art give-away held in Peterborough last year but never got around to drawing on them so they hang around my studio waiting for me to doodle on them. These three were inspired by Born to Die by Lana Del Rey. By the way I know the lyric is "Feet don't fail me now" but I like it this way...
This artwork originally had a different title but I decided to go for the less desperate sounding title of "Save Me"

A couple of weeks ao Benny from Beat This asked me if I'd paint on a wall in a recording studio he was putting together for the Beat This organisation. Once I understood what Beat This was about I couldnt say no.
Beat This is a Community Interest Company (or CIC), which is a social enterprise with a conscience. They use music and technology to help children, young people and adults with additional needs develop skills, interact and create through music. Many of the people that they support are disengaged from mainstream society or education and may have special educational needs and disabilities, mental health issues, or challenging behaviour. This year they have built Peterborough’s 1st Community Music Studio (Chime Creation Cente) where people will have the opportunity to learn, record, perform their music and gain qualifications in a professional recording studio environment. For more details on Beat This you can check their website, Facebook page and Twitter. I stated my painting a few weeks ago and finished the night before it officially opened, it was all very last minute but it was geat working with so many volunteers who were finishing off the renovation late into night. Here are a few photographs of the finished wall and the volunteers. The good people at Beat This asked me to paint a wall for them. They use music and technology to help children, young people and adults with additional needs learn, interact and create through music. How could I say no? Here are some shots of the work completed so far. |
