I use small pieces of card to pump up my Posca pens and get them inked up and ready to use. Rather than waste the card I thought I'd draw a little worm on it. This one is loosely based on a Lee Mason skatedeck that looks awesome.

I don't get to cut stencils as much as I'd like to, its enormously time consuming so I was pleased to see a recent one made its way to its new owner safely. This is Walter, as you can see he is over the moon with his new piece of art.
Check out the Puglaw stencils here. Last week my wife said to me I need to go to work with her because she needed some help writing on some large boards. I agreed to help out but didn't really know what I was letting myself in for. Today I found out we were going to work at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough which is a beautiful building that has been a hospice for the last 20 years providing palliative care. The job was simple but emotional, we had to write the words "before I die I want to" at the top of four large boards. The plan is to screw the four boards together into a giant cube and take them to various locations and ask people to write what they want to do before they die on them. Happy with how they turned out considering we didn't plan anything, we just turned up and painted. It was a good afternoon. Find out more about Thorpe Hall and consider donating here. So I've recently installed an app called moldiv that I'm really liking for photo collages. What I love about it is the little button that randomises the photos and frames. It also does all the basics well like having plenty of templates and a simple way to add text. Here are some recent results. This is a worm I did for a friend that took some great shots of a paint jam I attended. Love the font on this one. Another canvas for a friend. Gone for that Shephard Fairey look which I'm a huge fan of and struggle not to copy all the time. Not too keen on how the collage turned out but you get the idea. Some free art I dropped off today. What I like about this one is that each section of the collage is the same photo. Just makes the whole thing a lot more interesting to look at. Simple layout this one and the font works well by using the background as the fill colour. Pretty sure there will be more of these from me over the coming months. Check me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Late edit. Forgot this one :) A couple of friends dropped some of my work in San Francisco last week for Free Art Friday. I got these brilliant pictures. A couple of weeks ago a friend found this great piece of cardboard and knowing what a fan I was of thick or multi-ply cardboard he brought it round for me to work on. Despite saying to myself I wasn't going to start any new pieces of work in 2014 I just couldn't resist the temptation to draw on it with a new set of Sharpies. So I got to work, the plan was to start in the centre and work my way out re-discovering the development of my worm character as I I went along. It started well and I liked the way the centre worked with the simple worms I used to draw years ago, a little organic life and then some of the worms that developed arms...as they do. After 4 hours of doodling things were going well and I was reasonably happy with how it was coming along but then the pens started running out, I made a few mistakes and ended up finishing it quickly because I lost interest in it. In the past when I've drawn stuff and not been very happy with it I've always kept it and it kind of sits in the corner reminding me I'm not as good as I want to be. So I took one last photo of it... ...and then set it on fire! A year or two ago I was commissioned to do a stencil of a Schnauzer in a propaganda style similar to the kind of stuff Obey did. Because of the way it came together I needed to use a lot of layers and the paint got thick and heavy and I was never really happy with it (not that I'm ever particularly happy with anything I produce). Anyway I thought at the time I would revisit it, try again but this time a little more in my style and as 2014 is the year I catch up and finish old projects here is a few shots of the finished cut stencils. 2014 has seen a good start to the sketchbook. Gonna collaborate with Miss Wah on one of these books (I think she likes my cactus)...although after counting 10 metres of paper in one book I'm thinking I've bitten off more than I can chew. Anyway here are some shots of the sketchbook in progress...all done with Posca and Sharpies.
